MEMBERSHIP iNFORMATION

MEMBERSHIP YEAR:

SAPA's membership year runs on a calendar year, January 1 to December 31.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED:

The online application requires you to upload documents verifying your qualifications for membership (e.g., degree, paralegal certificate, certification, resume). Voting members must also upload 6 hours of CLE certificates (including 1 ethics credit) to complete their application. Please have these documents ready for easy upload before starting the application. See terms below.

MEMBERSHIP TERMS:

SAPA's membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. Those who join in October, November, or December pay full dues, with membership lasting through the end of the following year (e.g., join in October 2025, membership expires December 31, 2026). Membership will be dropped if not renewed by March 1.

Voting Member - $60.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments
CLE CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
Those eligible for Voting Membership status must meet the following CLE credit requirements:
1. Have 6 hours of CLE completed and documented when applying/renewing; and
2. Have 1 Ethics CLE credit of the 6 required.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Those eligible for Voting Membership status must meet one of the following requirements:
1. Possesses valid proof of completion of a certification or of a full course of study prescribed for training of the paralegal at an accredited approved college, university, junior college, or other institution or post-secondary school; or

2. Has been employed as a paralegal for a minimum of twelve (12) months and whose supervising attorney or employer executes an affidavit of such employment on a form prescribed by the Board.

Associate Member - $60.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments
Those eligible for Associate Membership status shall be an individual who:

1. is not currently employed as a paralegal; or
2. has not provided proof of completion of the required six 6 CLE hours for renewal of Voting Membership.

An Associate Member who becomes eligible for Voting Membership class must upgrade his/her membership to that of a Voting Member.

Student Member - $25.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments
Those eligible for Student Membership status shall be an individual who:

1. is a student in good standing at any accredited approved university, college, junior college, or other institution or post-secondary school pursuing a course of study as a paralegal.

A Student Member, who becomes eligible for either an Associate Membership or Voting Membership, must upgrade his/her membership to that of an Associate Member or a Voting Member.

Sustaining Member - $450.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No automatically recurring payments Our Sustaining Members are a valuable resource to our organization. It is our goal is to provide value to you through collaboration and direct engagement with our legal community comprised of law firm and corporate in-house paralegals and other paraprofessionals.
